The BMW 5 Series was first launched over 50 years ago in the summer of 1972 and was the successor to the "Neue Klasse". The Touring version of the BMW 5 Series was launched in 1991.

What is the power of the BMW 5 Series Touring?

"Power" is often understood in different ways. Generally, power refers to the values kW (hp), torque (Nm) or acceleration. It's impossible to make a global statement, as these values vary between the different models of the BMW 5 Series. Different engine variants, petrol or plug-in hybrid, are available. The BMW 520i Touring offers a power of 140 kW (190 hp). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and has a torque of 310 Nm.

Yes. There is a fully electric version of the BMW 5 Series Touring, as well as a plug-in hybrid. In addition to the BMW i5 eDrive40, our most powerful BMW M5 Touring is a plug-in hybrid electric model.

Full torque. From the very first revolution. The 145 kW (197 PS) kW (hp)[4][6] powerful electric motor delivers powerful forward thrust. It maximises acceleration in seamless interplay with the 4.4-litre V8 engine.
The package that delivers an adrenaline punch. M Drive Professional is your reliable companion for fast laps, while Boost Control delivers breathtaking acceleration.
Always visible. Typically M. The BMW head-up display adapts visually to the drive mode. It displays extensive or minimal information, depending on the M Mode selected.
Operation is intuitive. The displays are always M. Many functions can be accessed simply and quickly with BMW iDrive. By voice control, touch or using the exclusive M-design BMW Controller.

Performance data of petrol engines apply to vehicles using RON 98 fuel. Fuel consumption data apply to vehicles using reference fuels in accordance with EU Regulation 715/2007. Unleaded RON 91 and higher with a maximum ethanol content of 10% (E10) may also be used. BMW recommends RON 95 fuel. For high-performance automobiles, BMW recommends RON 98 fuel.


Official data for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, power consumption and electric range was determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring procedure and corresponds to European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the applicable version. For ranges, data determined as per WLTP takes into account any optional equipment (available on the German market in this case). For vehicles that have been newly type approved since 1 January 2021, only the official data according to WLTP exists. In addition, NEDC values are deleted from the certificates of conformity as of 1 January 2023 by EC regulation 2022/195.
