Masters of Ambition: An Exclusive Evening with Lincoln Townley and BMW Eurokars Auto

Renowned for his explosive and evocative paintings, British artist Lincoln Townley made a highly anticipated return to Singapore for an exclusive showcase of The Banker’s Journey—a landmark exhibition celebrating a decade of his iconic Banker Series. Hosted on 3 April 2025 at the BMW Eurokars Experience Centre, this invite-only VIP affair brought together art connoisseurs and automotive aficionados for a night that embodied unfiltered ambition, creative energy, and the uncompromising luxury of BMW’s finest models. Townley, whose works are collected by luminaries such as Al Pacino and Sir Michael Caine, is renowned for his ability to strip away the polished façade of success, revealing the relentless hunger and obsession that fuel greatness.

In collaboration with Art Works Advisory (The Art Works Group), the evening commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Troy Sadler, setting the stage for a celebration of artistry and innovation. Guests were captivated by speeches from Ms. Michelle Yang, General Manager of Marketing & CRM at BMW Eurokars Auto, Mr. Fabian Wong of Premium Himalayan Wines, and Townley himself, who reflected on the journey that has shaped his creative vision since 2018. Further elevating the night’s exclusivity, Ms. Claudia Wieshuber of BMW Group Asia presented the Singapore Icons One-of-One BMW 7 Series—a bespoke automotive masterpiece that seamlessly merges cutting-edge design with cultural heritage.

Adding an interactive edge to the event, the BMW Racing Simulator Challenge saw guests go head-to-head in a test of skill and precision, with Mr. Johan Bergendorff emerging victorious, earning a 2D1N BMW 7 Series experience. The night’s grand finale saw one fortunate guest claim the ultimate prize—an exclusive 3D2N drive with the BMW 7 Series, presented by Ms. Charmain Kwee, Group Executive Director of Eurokars Group.

“Lincoln Townley’s artistic expression is a testament to the power of authenticity and immersion—principles that resonate deeply with us at BMW Eurokars Auto. Just as his work invites audiences to fully engage with his vision, we strive to create an equally immersive experience for our customers. Our spaces are designed to inspire true freedom of expression, allowing individuals to craft their dream BMW with a personal touch that reflects their unique identity. It’s not just about a car; it’s about shaping an experience that is deeply personal and truly unforgettable. That’s what it means to Drive the Difference.”
Charmain Kwee, Group Executive Director, Eurokars Group
“This was not only an opportunity to showcase our brand, but a unique opportunity for us to engage with a new audience that shares the same fascinations as our customers – innovation, artistic expression, and emotional storytelling. The atmosphere was brimming with engaging conversation and excitement and will definitely be remembered by all.” – Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia.

Yet beyond the art and the adrenaline, the night offered a rare glimpse into the mind of Townley himself. In an intimate conversation, the artist drew compelling parallels between his high-octane creative process and his love for precision engineering—particularly his admiration for the BMW M5 Touring.

Read on for an exclusive Q&A with Lincoln Townley, where he shares his passion for speed, his dream portrait subject, and the impossible choice between his two greatest loves: painting and driving.

Your art is all about energy and intensity. Does driving a BMW give you the same kind of adrenaline rush as creating a bold new piece?
Townley: Absolutely. I just ordered the BMW M5 Touring in the UK—bought it 18 months ago when it first launched. Right now, I drive the BMW M5 Competition, and it’s everything my work represents: intensity, dynamism, aggression. It’s the best car I’ve ever driven—and I collect a lot of cars.
You’ve painted some of the world’s biggest icons. If you could take on any legendary figure—past or present—as your next piece, who would it be and why?
Townley: The legendary Sir Michael Caine. My next work is dedicated to his extraordinary 60-year film career. He’s an artist in his own right, and his legacy deserves to be captured on canvas.

If you had to choose between never painting again or never driving again, which would you give up?
(Townley laughs, pausing to consider which would unsettle him more.)
Townley: I’d have to put the canvas in the back of my M5 Competition. They both go hand in hand.
